Choose the scale
Use 2× when the original is already reasonably clear and you need more pixels for a layout. Use 4× for a smaller source. The result keeps the source aspect ratio; the model processes overlapping patches to reduce memory use. Compare the result with the original before downloading its PNG.
Size and quality limits
The current 2× path accepts images up to 1024 px on either side; the 4× path accepts up to 512 px on either side. Both cap the output at four million pixels. An upscaler can add plausible detail, but it cannot reliably reconstruct text, faces or information that was never present in the source. Inspect lines and fine textures for invented patterns or seams.
The two compact models load only when this tool runs. The image is processed on your device and the output is downloaded from your browser. For changing a background instead, use the background remover.
