Choose a new photo background color
The best background color helps the subject read at the size people will actually see it.
Start with purpose
Use neutral white or gray when comparing products. Use a brand color when a campaign needs a recognizable palette, but test whether the subject remains distinct. Black can be elegant for bright packaging and difficult for dark clothes or hair. A gradient works when it adds depth without competing with the object.
Apply and inspect
- Upload the source to change image background.
- After the cutout appears, try a swatch or exact HEX value. Compare the subject against several alternatives.
- Inspect the exported file at full size and as a small thumbnail. Look for a fringe in the previous backdrop color.
Color is not lighting
Swapping a background does not change the direction of light on a face or product. A bright background behind a dark subject can reveal halos; a dark background can hide dark clothing. If the edit looks unnatural, consider a simpler color or reshoot under lighting that better matches the target design.
Keep a transparent PNG master so you can create future variations without repeatedly segmenting a compressed copy. Use JPG only for a final opaque version. Check readable contrast wherever you place text near the image. If you are preparing several cards, compare them side by side so a color that works for one object does not make another object disappear. A neutral backdrop may be more consistent than forcing one saturated color onto every item.
